AttorneyAttorney Thomas Colantuono joined Bianco Professional Association after having served as the United States Attorney for the District of New Hampshire from December 2001 to March 2009. Tom brings a wealth of experience in law, politics, and government to the firm.
Tom served as an Assistant Attorney General in the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office from March 1978 to August 1981. He then owned and operated his own law office in Derry from 1981 to 2001, handling a wide variety of legal matters for individuals and small businesses in the greater Derry area, including personal injury law, criminal law, civil litigation, real estate, wills, and probate. Tom has been a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association since 1976, and has served on the Ethics Committee and the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee of the Bar Association.
In 1990, Tom was elected to the New Hampshire Senate from District 14, where he served until 1996. He served as the Assistant Majority Leader and Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. He also served on the Finance, Judiciary, Insurance, Executive Departments and Administration, and Capital Budget committees.
In 1996, Tom left the Senate to run for Congress. In 1998, he was elected to the Executive Council from District 4, representing the greater Manchester area. He served on the Council until he resigned to become U.S. Attorney. As U.S. Attorney, Tom supervised the work of 23 Assistant U.S. Attorneys in all federal criminal prosecutions and civil matters on behalf of the federal government. He served on the Attorney General's Advisory Committee's Subcommittees on Terrorism and National Security, Border and Immigration Issues, and White Collar Crime.
With his extensive experience in law and government at both the state and federal levels, Tom is available to assist individuals, businesses, and institutional clients in devising strategic solutions to problems that involve the public sector. He is also available to represent clients before New Hampshire's many regulatory boards and commissions, as well as the legislature and the Executive Council.
Tom graduated cum laude and with Distinction in History from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School. He has taught legal subjects as an adjunct professor at Rivier College, New Hampshire College (now Southern New Hampshire University), and the Nashua Regional Vocational Technical College.
